The presentation of The impact of artificial intelligence on companies <\/em><\/strong>publication by Xavier Marcet <\/strong>took\u00a0place on April 12th, which is part of the \u201cPapers of the Industry Observatory\u201d collection of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya <\/strong>and has been prepared with the support of the Pacte Industrial of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region. <\/strong>The event was organised by the\u00a0Fundaci\u00f3 per la Ind\u00fastria<\/a> and the Pacte Industrial.<\/p>\n\n

The mayor of Viladecans and secretary of the Pacte Industrial, Carles Ruiz,<\/strong> mentioned the two axes <\/strong>that must form a new productive framework<\/strong>: technology <\/strong>and sustainability<\/strong>;\u00a0and how artificial intelligence can contribute <\/strong>to decision-making by companies and institutions to align with these two axes and address the uncertainty of the future.<\/p>\n\n

Matilde Villarroya,<\/strong> Director General of Industry, emphasised the interest of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya in generating knowledge <\/strong>in order to encourage\u00a0rigorous\u00a0industrial policy decision-making<\/strong> by the Government and with cooperation <\/strong>with other well-informed agents.<\/p>\n\n

Josep Roca,<\/strong> president of the Fundaci\u00f3 per la Ind\u00fastria <\/strong>emphasised the importance of valuing the industrial knowledge <\/strong>that exists in Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n

The key is the sum of human and artificial intelligence<\/h2>\n\n

The author, Xavier Marcet,<\/strong> explained that for this publication he put himself in the shoes of an employer and has asked several questions: how can artificial intelligence <\/strong>(AI) help my customers<\/strong>? How can AI make us more competitive<\/strong>? How can AI help us improve customisation <\/strong>of our products? How can AI help us be more precise<\/strong>? How can we use AI to make better decisions<\/strong>? etc.<\/p>\n\n

The study presents a guide for the incorporation of artificial intelligence into companies,<\/strong> based on 9 essential components,<\/strong> which are summarised in the following figure:<\/p>\n\n

Marcet <\/strong>also noted that AI will generate new opportunities <\/strong>and that people <\/strong>will\u00a0need to adapt and develop new skills<\/strong>. The biggest barrier will not be the use of technology but promoting changes in mindsets <\/strong>and facilitating people’s learning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Finally, he wanted to emphasise that, despite technological development, people will be essential <\/strong>because, although there will be tasks that machines will do better, the secret is in the sum of the human and artificial\u00a0intelligence<\/strong>. “We need to create a society in which the relationship between machines and people is in favour of people,” Marcet says.<\/p>\n
