{"id":20611,"date":"2023-10-17T21:44:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T19:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pacteindustrial.org\/blog\/the-industrial-pact-participates-in-the-iii-fecav-conference\/"},"modified":"2024-02-02T15:24:54","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T13:24:54","slug":"the-industrial-pact-participates-in-the-iii-fecav-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pacteindustrial.org\/en\/blog\/the-industrial-pact-participates-in-the-iii-fecav-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"The Industrial Pact participates in the III FECAV Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The managing coordinator of the Industrial Pact,<strong> Carles Rivera<\/strong>, has participated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecav.es\/ca\/iii-jornada-fecav\/\">third edition of the annual conference <\/a>organised by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fecav.es\/ca\/\"><strong>Federaci\u00f3 Empresarial Catalana d\u2019Autotransport de Viatgers (FECAV)<\/strong><\/a>, which was held last 17 October at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana under the title \u201cThe multi-sector link for inclusive public transport\u201d. Specifically, Rivera took part in a <strong>round table <\/strong>on the discretionary bus service as a lever for cross-cutting development together with <strong>I\u00f1aki Collado <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/idemice.com\/\">IDEMICE<\/a>) and <strong>David Sastre <\/strong>(consultant), and moderated by <strong>Daniel Gallego <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexotrans.com\/nexobus\">Nexobus<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Rivera <\/strong>pointed out the need to analyse the <strong>mobility sector <\/strong>from a <strong>local point of view <\/strong>and taking into consideration its relationship with <strong>economic <\/strong>development. An <strong>efficient transport service is a key factor<\/strong> for the development of companies, job creation and the increase in GDP, he pointed out. And this need becomes even more evident in <strong>industrial estates<\/strong>, which often located far away from urban centres. Having a collective transport system \u2013 discretionary or public \u2013 is essential for <strong>attracting and retaining talent<\/strong>, as workers are increasingly valuing having access to <strong>sustainable mobility services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>35% of the industrial estates in the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona are not accessible using public transport.\u00a0<strong>Rivera <\/strong>appealed to the need for a \u201c<strong>pact<\/strong>\u201d and to find <strong>shared solutions between public administrations, companies and social actors<\/strong>. It is necessary to improve <strong>governance structures<\/strong> <strong>and business associations, Rivera <\/strong>insisted, to have the necessary critical mass to enable the articulation of <strong>mobility services shared by the workers of several companies in the same industrial estate<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Rivera <\/strong>also emphasised that collective transport solutions are not only motivated by reasons of <strong>environmental sustainability<\/strong>, but also <strong>social aspects<\/strong>, since they respond to the <strong>needs and expectations of workers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Public transport financing<\/h2>\n\n<p>For his part, <strong>Jos\u00e9 Maria Chavarr\u00eda<\/strong>, president of the FECAV, indicated that the <strong>regular bus <\/strong>is key to <strong>restoring territorial balance and promoting ecological transition<\/strong>. In this sense, he recalled the need to have a <strong>public transport financing law<\/strong>, both in Catalonia and in Spain. He also highlighted the need to promote <strong>collective public transport plans <\/strong>so that workers can access companies and to correct the <strong>current shortage of 20,000 drivers <\/strong>in Spain for the transport of goods and people.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Oriol Martori, <\/strong>director general of Transport and Mobility of the Regional Government of Catalonia, has pointed out that<strong> public-private collaboration <\/strong>must be strengthened to face <strong>environmental challenges <\/strong>and that <strong>policies and investments in public transport <\/strong>must be strengthened to improve <strong>social and territorial cohesion<\/strong>. At the same time, he agreed on the need to have a public transport <strong>financing law, to strengthen participation mechanisms <\/strong>and to improve <strong>mobility planning <\/strong>through <strong>new technologies and data<\/strong>.
