This aim of this study is to analyse Catalonia’s Industrial Parks (PAE), key infrastructure for concentrating industrial, logistics and business activity. The study has been developed around three lines of action to address the present and future needs of these economic areas. Firstly, we studied the types of industrial spaces that the territory needs to face the challenges of the 21st century, taking into consideration aspects such as strategic location, energy needs and alignment with other sectoral policies. Secondly, we explored how these parks are promoted and operate, bringing into play key aspects such as urban planning, mobility, supply systems, sustainable resource management and governance. Lastly, particular attention was paid to innovation, research and technological development as drivers of the revitalisation of industrial parks.

This publication is part of the “Papers of the Industry Observatory” collection of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya and has been prepared with the support of the Pacte Industrial of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region.
