08-03-2019

On 27 February, the winners of the second edition of the IND+I Science awards were announced, this time at an IND+I Club session held in Viladecans. Kinga Barbara Tchorzewska, of the University of Barcelona, was awarded the IND+I Science award for the category of ‘Green industry for sustainable growth’ – promoted by the Pacte Industrial of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region – for her research on the effectiveness of environmental taxes in stimulating the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and reducing pollution by manufacturers. The Mayor of Viladecans and Secretary of the Pacte Industrial, Carles Ruiz, and the Managing Coordinator of the Pacte Industrial, Carles Rivera, presented the award to Magdalena Domínguez, the author’s colleague, who accepted it on her behalf.

Other winners included Nour Chams for the category of ‘Innovative systems and policies’ and Berta Vidal for the category of ‘Metropolitan development programme’; both are from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. The winners all received €3,000 to conduct their research, which shall be presented at a symposium next September.
